- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions
- Boil water in a large pot and cook the macaroni according to package instructions.
- While the pasta cooks, melt butter in a separate saucepan over medium heat.
- Add flour to the melted butter and stir for about 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, making sure there are no lumps.
- Cook until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese until melted.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Drain the macaroni and add it to the cheese sauce, mixing well.
