Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
  3. Add the salt and butter or oil to the boiling water.
  4. Add the rice to the pot and stir gently.
  5. Reduce heat to low and cover the pot with a lid.
  6. Cook for 18-20 minutes without lifting the lid.
  7. Remove the pot from heat and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  8. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve.

Notes

  • Make sure to rinse the rice to remove excess starch.
  • Do not lift the lid while the rice is cooking.
  • Letting the rice sit after cooking helps it absorb steam.
