Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional for thickening)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  2. Shape the mixture into patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. In a skillet, cook the patties over medium heat for about 5 minutes on each side until browned.
  4. Remove patties and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  6. If desired, mix cornstarch with a little water and stir into the broth to thicken.
  7. Return the patties to the skillet and simmer for another 10 minutes.
  8. Serve the hamburger steaks hot, with the gravy poured over them.

Notes
