Description

A simple and easy bread recipe for beginners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add salt and olive oil to the yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
  8. Let the dough rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it cool before slicing.

Notes

  • Use warm water, not hot, to activate the yeast.
  • If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.
  • For a crusty loaf, place a pan of water in the oven while baking.
