Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Stir in yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add melted butter, salt, and egg to the yeast mixture.
- Gradually mix in flour until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread softened butter over the dough and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll the dough tightly and cut into 12 equal pieces.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Mix powdered sugar and milk to make icing.
- Drizzle icing over warm buns before serving.
Notes
- Make sure your milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast.
- If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.
- Don’t skip the rising time; this makes the buns fluffy.
