- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup beef broth
Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion softens.
- Stir in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute.
- Add the kidney beans, diced tomatoes, and beef broth. Stir well.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
- Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Serve hot with your choice of toppings.
Notes
- For a spicier chili, add jalapeños or cayenne pepper.
- Letting the chili sit for a few hours improves the flavor.
