Ingredients

- 4 chicken breasts
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
- Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and dried basil.
- Place chicken in the skillet and cook until browned on both sides.
- Pour tomato sauce over the chicken.
- Sprinkle red pepper flakes if you like it spicy.
- Cover the skillet and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes until chicken is cooked through.
- Serve hot with your choice of side.
Notes
- Check chicken for doneness by cutting into the thickest part; it should be no longer pink.
- Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers or spinach to the sauce.
