  • 2 celery stalks, chopped

  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine the chicken, broth, onion, carrots, celery, salt, pepper, and thyme.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for about 1 hour, until the chicken is cooked through.
  4. Remove the chicken and let it cool. Shred the meat and discard the bones.
  5. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Add milk and melted butter to the flour mixture. Stir until combined.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling batter into the simmering broth.
  8. Cover the pot and cook for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
  9. Add the shredded chicken back into the pot.
  10. Stir gently and serve hot.
