Ingredients

  • 1 large head of sour cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups broth or water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Carefully separate the leaves from the sour cabbage.
  3. In a bowl, mix the ground beef, cooked rice, onion, tomato paste, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Take a cabbage leaf and place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center.
  5. Fold the sides over the filling and roll it tightly.
  6. Repeat with the remaining leaves and filling.
  7. In a baking dish, spread half of the diced tomatoes and half of the broth.
  8. Place the cabbage rolls seam side down in the dish.
  9. Top with the remaining diced tomatoes and broth.
  10. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 1 hour.
  11. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  12. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh cabbage if sour cabbage is not available.
  • Be careful not to overfill the cabbage leaves.
  • Check rolls halfway through cooking to ensure they are not drying out.
