Delicious asiago cheese soft pretzels that are easy to make.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm water (110°F to 115°F)
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 cup asiago cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse sea salt, for topping

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until combined.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  5. Divide the dough into 8 pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope and shape into a pretzel.
  6. In a pot, bring 10 cups of water to a boil. Add baking soda slowly.
  7. Boil each pretzel for 30 seconds, then remove and place on a baking sheet.
  8. Brush each pretzel with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt and asiago cheese.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Let cool slightly before serving.
